Who We Are and Where We're Going

A place where hard work, play, and the land shape better people.

The vision behind Black Sky and Fjallout is to create a place where people reconnect with what it means to be human through effort, mountain life, animal care, and time spent on real ground.

This is not a comfort-first idea. It is about learning by doing, growing through experience, and building a way of life that ties discipline, stewardship, and play together.

Our Vision

Connection over comfort, discipline over ease, and real life over abstraction.

The vision is to build a place where people can reconnect with the meaning of work, play, and the land itself. Greenhouses, gardens, livestock, trails, and rinks all serve the same larger purpose: teaching respect for the earth, for one another, and for the effort it takes to keep both thriving.

Families and friends should be able to come here to skate, ride, build, caretake, and learn. What matters is not passive entertainment, but lived experience.

The goal is not softness. It is connection. Under the Black Sky, discipline from the ice meets the lessons of the mountain. Compassion is learned through caretaking, and visitors leave with calloused hands, clearer purpose, and a deeper respect for life.

What That Vision Looks Like

A working place where every part of the property teaches something real.

Hockey and the arena

The discipline of the ice teaches grit, teamwork, timing, and pride in effort.

Ranching and animal care

Livestock, rescue work, and caretaking teach compassion, steadiness, and responsibility.

Gardens and greenhouses

Soil, food systems, and seasonal growing teach patience, respect, and long-view thinking.

Our Mission

Work the land, respect the mountain, and take care of what takes care of us.

What the mission demands

  • Build fences, barns, arenas, and useful infrastructure with purpose
  • Cut timber, restore soil, and keep the land in balance
  • Rescue and care for animals that need a second chance
  • Learn from the mountain instead of trying to overpower it
  • Earn health through sweat, fresh air, and real effort

Black Sky's mission is to work with nature, not tame it. The mountain is not there to be conquered. It is there to be respected, learned from, and lived with honestly.

Stewardship means labor and compassion together. The work is hard, the hours are long, and the reward is knowing you are part of something bigger than yourself.

A Family Build

A first-generation ranching family building something the next generation can grow into.

This is a first-generation ranching family trying to build a way of life the four boys can inherit and grow into. Hard work, respect, humility, and pride in what you make with your own hands are not side values here. They are the structure.

The mountain will always win in the end, and that is part of the lesson. Character is built through showing up, getting it wrong, rebuilding, and learning what the land is trying to teach.

Mission in Motion

Fjallout is building a place where people can work, learn, and play in harmony with nature.
